The museum's permanent and temporary exhibitions cover more than 700 m²and feature around 10,000 objects. The themes of the exhibitions include the formation and geology of Lake Balaton, its flora and fauna, fishing, boating, bathing culture, tourism, sports, as well as the castles and historical monuments surrounding the lake. The museum pays special attention to children and families: interactive games, dioramas, an aquarium, a virtual bird identification tool, and summer camps are also available.
The museum also organizes conferences, open university lectures, museum evenings, and thematic programs.
