The Széchenyi István Memorial Chess Tournament is a fast-paced, amateur-style competition offering an opportunity for young players and hobbyists to compete. The event aims to honor István Széchenyi—who was himself an active chess player—within a sporting framework. In addition to intellectual challenge, the tournament also provides a sense of community.
Program Preview and Registration Information
The tournament takes place in a single day and follows a seven-round Swiss system. Players compete in three age-based groups:
- Children’s Group: born after January 1, 2011
- Youth Group: born before January 1, 2011, up to age 18
- Amateur Group: adults with a FIDE rating below 1950
Registration is free and can be completed in advance via email or on-site.
