Balatonfüred Yacht Club on May 21 and September 21 open house provide an opportunity for participants to get a closer look at the world of sailing and water sports. The program aims to bring sports and physical activity closer to participants in an enjoyable, interactive way, while also imparting useful knowledge that is important both in everyday life and during waterfront recreation. During the open house, participants will not only gain insight into the world of sailing, but will also be able to experience water sports through practical exercises and variousexperience the thrill of water sports. The programs combine the themes of physical activity, sports, water safety, a healthy lifestyle, and athletic experiences, so that throughout the day, both education and active participation play an equally important role.
Participation is free, but registration is required.
The event is taking place as part of the Veszprém-Balaton European Region of Sport 2026 Program.
PROGRAMS
- Introduction to the Laser Bahia Equipment - participants will learn about the Laser Bahia boat’s equipment, its main components, and the tools needed for sailing.
- Learning Knotting Techniques—during this hands-on session, participants can learn basic knot-tying techniques that are useful in sailing and other water sports.
- Motor Coordination Exercises - through playful, active exercises, the focus is on coordination, dexterity, and the joy of movement.
- SUP and Kiteboarding — participants can experience two popular water sports up close, and will have the opportunity to try out SUP and kiteboarding.
- Lecture on Healthy Nutrition – the program also includes information related to a healthy lifestyle. The presentation highlights the importance of a balanced diet and regular physical activity.
- Water Safety and Accident Prevention - participants will learn the basic rules for safe water sports and time spent near the water, as well as the most important aspects of accident prevention. The program is made possible through a professional partnership between the Hungarian Water Rescue Service and the Water Rescue Foundation.
- Meeting with an Olympian—an informal conversation with Benjamin Vadnai about his experiences in competitive sports and his career as an athlete. The program gives participants the opportunity to ask an Olympian questions directly and gain insight into the world of competitive sports.
- Learning about the clothing and equipment needed for sailing - participants will learn about the clothing and equipment used while sailing, as well as the factors to consider for safe and comfortable water sports.
