The latest findings of the Syrian-Hungarian archaeological mission – exhibition opening and themed guided tour

Excavations have been ongoing for 18 years at Margat Castle in the Middle East, which was visited 800 years ago by the ailing Andrew II during the Fifth Crusade. After his recovery, he supported the construction of the castle.and, after his recovery, supported the construction and operation of the castle. At the opening of the exhibition, curator Dezső Franta, restorer of archaeological materials, will talk to visitors about the unusual mission and interesting facts about the mission, having been involved in the work since 2011.
The ceramics found during the excavations provide the most information about the period in question, which is why their restoration is so important. During the 2016-17 excavations, more than 500 plates were found in an older cistern in the area inhabited by the knights (some of them intact), most of them broken but repairable. We are currently working on this with our colleagues.

He visited the place where our knight king, Andrew II of the House of Árpád, had been eight hundred years ago.
