Two defining figures of the Hungarian music scene, Nóvér Soma and Sándor Csoóri Jr. (“Sündi”) are one of the most exciting examples in Hungary of the convergence of folk music roots and modern, minimalist instrumentation. They treat tradition as a living, breathing, and deeply personal experience.

Nothing proves the group’s success better than the fact that their first major-label album, The Rum Diaries, released in November 2025, won the prestigious Fonogram – Hungarian Music Award in the category “Domestic World or Folk Music Album of the Year.” This recognition affirms the artist’s unique creative journey, which blends literary inspiration, folk music roots, and raw, honest storytelling.

Soma: A key figure in the Hungarian alternative scene since 2012. He is known for his work with bands such as Middlemist Red, MORDÁI, The Night Of The Vampire, and Samurai Drive.

Sándor “Südi” Csoóri Jr.: Co-director of Buda Folk Band and Fifth Season, as well as a renowned composer for dance theaters, he is one of the most innovative guardians of folk music traditions.
