14 cells, 14 fates – prison life within the walls of the Castle Prison
The Várbort Visitor Center has renewed its permanent exhibition, Man Behind the Bars, which presents in a unique way the fate of the 100,000 prisoners who were imprisoned in the former concentration camp.Man Behind Bars, presents the human and social aspects of prison life in a unique way. Visitors can learn about 14 different micro-stories through 14 cells, which shed new light on the issues of crime, punishment, and justice.
Interactive experience – on the border between past and present
The exhibition not only provides historical insight, but also enriches the experience with interactive elements. Visitors can learn how the concept of punishment has changed over the centuries and what personal stories lie behind the bars. The aim of the exhibition is not to pass judgment, but to encourage reflection.
